Stratton, an itinerant carpenter and prospector who became Cripple Creek's first millionaire, will be portrayed by Richard Marold. In a historically accurate presentation, the texture and excitement of late 19th century Colorado's booming mine towns is rediscovered.

Through the eyes and experience of Stratton, Marold portrays the paradoxical "Midas of the Rockies" and life in Colorado over one hundred years ago: the rush to the Rockies, the lure of gold and silver, the flamboyance, greed and tragedy of those eager to get rich quick. Mr. Marold has portrayed Stratton for the past twelve years and is author of a book on Stratton titled The Reluctant Millionaire which will be for sale.

Stratton, although the richest multi-millionaire to emerge from the gold fields of Cripple Creek, continued to live modestly and struggled under the weight of wealth. But he gave an extraordinary amount of money back to Colorado and became one the state's greatest humanitarians.
