Join The Friends of Cheyenne Cañon and preserve North Cheyenne Cañon Park

The Friends of Cheyenne Cañon’s annual membership drive is in full swing, with a goal of 450 members.  Look for the membership brochure insert in this week’s Cheyenne Edition and join a dynamic organization dedicated to preserving North Cheyenne Cañon Park.

Two Visitors’ Centers in the Park provide information and programs for visitors from around the world. Starsmore Discovery Center is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Helen Hunt Falls is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. The money generated from memberships, donations and grants enables the extended hours. In 2006, North Cheyenne Cañon Park was the sixth most visited attraction in the Pikes Peak region with over 391,000 visitors.

Upcoming events include National Hummingbird Day on Saturday, August 4; Canvases in the Cañon on Saturday, September 8; and Canya Cañon? Race and Family Walk on Sunday, September 16, 2007.

Help preserve this natural resource and join the Friends of Cheyenne Cañon. Your membership provides much need funding for educational and interpretive programs, facility and trail improvements, and Park maintenance. For more information call
(719) 385-6086 or visit www.cheyennecanon.org.
