 TFOCC Membership Drive Kick-off

The Friends of Cheyenne Cañon (TFOCC) kicked off their annual membership drive July 1, 2007. “Our goal is to increase our membership from 220 members to 450 members,” said Lee Wolf, chair of the Membership Drive. “There is a great need for members to support the park’s maintenance, staffing, and programs.”

North Cheyenne Cañon Park is Colorado Springs oldest and most diverse regional park. The 1600-acre park includes Starsmore Discovery Center, Helen Hunt Falls, Stratton Open Space and access to Gold Camp Road. While North Cheyenne Cañon Park is owned by the City of Colorado Springs, the City lacks the resources to maintain the park on its own.

The Friends of Cheyenne Cañon raise funds and volunteer to support educational and interpretive programs, improve facilities and trails, and advocate for increased understanding of the park and its needs.  In 2007, the money generated from memberships, donations and grants has extended the hours at Helen Hunt Falls and Starsmore Discovery Center, provided funding for educational and school programs, and improved and maintained the network of trails in the park.

Help preserve this natural resource and join the Friends of Cheyenne Cañon. Look for the membership brochure and application insert next week, July 27, 2007, in the Cheyenne Edition. For more information about membership in the Friends of Cheyenne Cañon or to volunteer, call (719) 385-6086 or visit www.cheyennecanon.org.
