Classroom Field Trips

School programs are offered during April, May, September, and October.

Junior Ranger Program (Ages 8-12):

Based on the National Park Junior Ranger Program, our program is a guided experience. Each child will receive a packet with a patch and a certificate of completion.  The Jr. Ranger booklet encourages children to become stewards of North Cheyenne Park. Young Rangers should come dressed for the weather with sturdy shoes, water bottle, hat and backpack. Sunscreen and sunglasses are recommended.  Please call Starsmore Discovery Center at (719) 385-6086 for more information. 1.5 hr. program

Tipi Raising and Ute Heritage Workshop (Grades 3-6)

This program involves packing a travois and setting up an authentic tipi and learning about the way of life of the native Ute People through interactive, hands-on experiences. The program is available Tuesday and Fridays starting April 8th (History State standards 16-20 1, 2, 3, 4,).  Please call Starsmore Discovery Center at 385-6086 for more information. 3-4 hr. program

Andy's Animal Senses (Preschool - ages 3-5)

This award winning environmental program introduces children to Andy the puppet and the five senses - touch, hearing, sight, taste, and smell.  Children are introduced to Andy’s animal friends and they learn about their special senses.  This program features hands-on activities and a walk around Starsmore Discovery Center. Wildlife Habitats (Grades 1-3)

Find out about the fascinating animals that are our wildlife "neighbors" in Colorado Springs.  Discover more about our mountain habitat and hike to the habitat logs to learn about these animals with hands on specimens and a habitat game to finish the program. Nature Detectives  (Grades K-2)

Children learn about Colorado wildlife and their specialized senses that help them survive.  Students will participate in hands on activities using their senses to experience this mountainous, natural park. (Science State Standards 3. Benchmark A, B, C)  Please call Starsmore Discovery Center at (719) 385-6086. 1.5 hr. program
